The Importance of Rest in GMAT prep

One of the most important things to remember is that -

The GMAT is not a test you can score well on by just solving hundreds of problems.

If it were that easy, everyone would have been able to score well on the test.

But that is not how it is. Why?

GMAT is a game of the mind, where rest and mental toughness are equally important. Its a 4 hour long test, and the last hour of the GMAT will stretch your mind to breaking point.

Here is why a lot of people don't achieve the score that they deserve:

1. No sleep/Little sleep the night before the test.

2. No rest during the breaks provided by the test makers.

3. No concept of taking rest for a few days every few weeks during your GMAT preparation, and no concept of resting for a couple of days before the day of the test.

Some people always find those 3 points hard to swallow. BUT, if you want an excellent score, you'll have to control your mind.

I am not stating something new here. You can easily go to BTG and search for "rest", and you will find numerous success stories that agree with what I have written above.

So... Don't allow yourself to experience burnouts. Rest a little. Have fun with the preparation.

  1. Practice questions can help familiarize with the GMAT, but in the end, we need to be physically and mentally ready in order to answer the questions without any doubt.
